4 days ago my husband and I recieved the news that our baby had Gastroschisis. At the time, we were devastated, we blamed ourselves, and we were so confused on what to do next. After spending the night coping with the news, i spent the next few days doing lots & lots of resrarch. I alteady knew there was a possibility that we could still have a healthy baby as long as we went through with the surgeries after birth. Still, there is a lot to consider. Other issues with the baby, infections, complications, and long hospital stays. It took me a whole day to finally come out to my friends and family about the news. The support that came after doing so was so overwhelming. I have an amazing support group already. It really helped me stay motivated and positive.
Over the course of the next few days, i still struggled with my emotions, but i was stronger and more accepting of it as each day passed. Today, i am happy to announce that we are continuing our pregnancy and hope that everything still goes well.
I will be going in on Wednesday for a normal checkup and ultrasound with my doctor. (i will now be meeting with a high risk doctor after this week, i chose to keep this appointment). On Thursday I will be having an amniocentesis done to test the baby for any other issues. Praying the baby is healthy!! We will also be able to tell the sex of the baby, very excited about this! I will also be 18 weeks on Thursday, nearly half way through my pregnancy!
I, and Tony too (if he ever feels like updating) will update our blog daily and weekly. I hope this allows a chance for our friends and family to stay involved with our journey. We know its going to be a bumpy road ahead of us, but we are taking it one step at a time! Thank you to everyone who has been there for us already. It really means alot to us! <3
P.s. Happy New Year to everyone!! Were spending ours at home in bed! Cheers!
