10 little fingers. 10 little toes.

Met with our high risk doctor this morning and we had a very detailed ultrasound with him. He made me feel so at ease with everything that is going on. Our little one kept moving all around in there, but i got to look at the screen the entire time.

We got to see her little face. 2 eyes, a nose, and a pair of lips. The top of her head was perfect too including her brain. Very pleased about that. Her heart is working perfectly! All four chambers, her arteries, and her little heartbeat are perfect. He even measured her arms and thigh bones, both measuring within 3 days of the right measurements. She has a stomach, a bladder, and two little kidneys. Her spine is aligned just right too! We were checking on her hands and feet and she had her hands over her feet the entire time. Ii can already picture her trying to hold her toes when she is born. The doctor then got a look at her abdomen.

Our little one has a lot of her intestines outside of her body. We got different views of the gastro and the doctor said it could almost be omphalocele, however her intestines are free flowing so there is no visible membrane around them. He said it can be either or, we wont know for sure until a few more weeks. Hes also thinking that her intestines are tangled around her umbilical cord. Doing my research, theres higher risks for chromosomal defects with omphalocele, but thankfully we do not have any with her. They will be the same surgeries whether it is it or not. Our little one is already weighing in at 11 ounces.

It was quite a bit shocking to see all the intestines out of her body, i really hoped it wasnt that much, but we have a lot of confidence with the surgeries now. I will be getting a few more second and third opinions about my birth plan. I dont have an appointment for a few more weeks i will keep you updated on what else goes on in the meantime!
